Prevention Education

In 2016, Alabama passed Erin's Law, a mandate that all public schools in the state teach children a prevention-oriented child-sexual abuse curriculum. This curriculum is taught to students in grades PreK-12 about age-appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and tell a trusted adult. The curriculum also requires school personnel to know about child sexual abuse, as well as parents and guardians, providing them with information on warning signs of abuse, assistance, referral, and resources to support sexually abused children and their families. RCEA is happy to provide this curriculum to the public schools in the six counties we serve. We recognize and support the importance of educating children from a young age for their well-being and safety.

Our Prevention Education Program also consists of other targeted training, including topics such as Healthy Masculinity, Bystander Intervention, Know Before You Go (curriculum and resources for upcoming college freshmen), and other topics as requested or a need is seen for.
